Intensive English Program

Structure and Speaking

Pronunciation and Conversation

The ELS Language Centers Intensive Program is the best way to help students significantly improve their English skills in the shortest time possible. Because it is balanced across the key components of language learning, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and listening, it ensures that students are able to communicate effectively whatever the method. Its academic efficiency has been recognized by more than 500 American and International Universities, colleges and career schools, where graduates of the Intensive English Program are accepted without requiring TOEFL.

Students are actively encouraged to participate in a wide variety of activities, as teachers use the Communicative Approach in the classroom. This keeps the class fresh and attentive whilst developing key skills. As well as classroom work, students also use the multimedia lab to practice listening skills and fun activities online.  This facility is available for use outside of classroom hours to continue building the necessary skills.

The Intensive Program provides

·        practice in speaking, reading, writing and listening skills

·        an English speaking environment

·        instruction with a qualified native English speaking teacher

To complete an ELS level

Each level takes about 100 hours of study and students can choose to take one, two or even 3 months to do this, depending on which center they choose.  Call your nearest center for more information regarding semi-intensive, intensive or super-intensive courses.

Structure and Speaking

This part of the Intensive English course is suitable for students who do not have a requirement for written communication skills, or who have scored significantly lower on the placement test than reading and writing.

Pronunciation and Conversation

This course enables participants to develop skills to understand and communicate more clearly in English.  It covers rhythm, intonation, vowel and consonant sounds and how to use sounds as grammar clues.

Activity based, students will take part in conversation and dialogue, role plays, discussion and debate, all with an emphasis on pronunciation.

Children’s Program

After School Program

Young Learners/Summer Program

Make the most of summer holidays by encouraging your child’s English language development whilst participating in games and activities.

The program will help develop key skills, from ABC upwards.  Using specific materials for children, the teacher will encourage group participation as they learn.  The skills taught are essential for the next school year and will give them a boost before returning to school.

ELS Language Centers aims to make this program fun and active for children of all ages and levels of English.

The Children’s Summer Program uses the same books as the After-School Program to allow movement between the two Programs.

After School Program

During term time, an after school class is offered twice a week.  This helps children build on the skills they are learning in school, develop confidence and increase their abilities.
